Jonathan Choe is the crime and justice reporter at KOMO TV and is always searching for stories that will impact the most people in our community and hold the powerful accountable. He arrived in Seattle just as the Covid-19 pandemic started in 2020 and found himself at the center of the area’s largest social justice protests.
Jonathan has more than two decades of experience in television news behind the scenes and in front of the camera working in major markets like Boston, Minneapolis and Chicago.
Prior to his time in Seattle, he worked as a correspondent and managing editor for Diya TV, America’s only South Asian network covering the intersection of sports, politics, religion, race, and culture. He also co-founded Change Media Group, a multimedia startup that worked to empower Chicago’s inner city youth with emerging technology tools while encouraging them to own and tell their stories.
In his spare time, Jonathan actively mentors young journalists and is always encouraging more minorities to enter the business.
He’s also a volunteer baseball and basketball coach.
Jonathan is also heavily involved with the National Association of Black Journalists, National Association of Hispanic Journalists and Asian American Journalists Association.
