SEATTLE -- Hey 12s, Huskies and Coug fans, you've helped make Seattle among the top 10 cities in the nation when it comes to best place to live for football fans, according to a study.
WalletHub ranked Seattle 10th on their list (9th among larger cities) among 240 cities with at least one college and/or NFL football team using data across 21 key metrics.
But some of the results in metrics used to gauge NFL fandom might have the 12s scratching their heads a bit.
Seattle ranked 6th of out of the 32 NFL teams in performance, 5th in attendance, and 8th in fewest coaches over the past 10 seasons. But the study ranked the Seahawks as having only the 10th most engaged NFL fans. The Top 5? Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Boston, New Orleans and Oakland.
On the college side, Seattle ranked 13th in performance of FBS and FCS teams, presumably the Huskies as the bulk of the study's points for Seattle. The city rated 36 in conference championship wins and 40th in number of overall college championships, but rated down at 118th for college football fan engagement (out of 230).
Overall, Pittsburgh was named the best town for football, ranking tops in NFL and 13th for college. They were followed by Boston, Green Bay, Dallas and New York City. Portland was near the bottom at 223rd, with the worst town given as Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
