What do first-time homebuyers regret?

Do you have any homebuying regrets?

Jan. 23, 2019

Sometimes we can learn from other's mistakes. The Seattle-based home improvement site Porch.com asked first-time homebuyers what they regretted.

The top regret: Buying a house that's too small. That was an issue for 22 percent of baby boomers, 20 percent of Gen Xers, and 15 percent of millennials.

Other regrets: Not saving enough before buying that first house, underestimating how much homebuying requires, and not doing enough research.

Nearly half of those surveyed said first-year maintenance costs for new appliances or buying or replacing a furnace was more than expected.
