Auburn Fred Meyer that sold winning lottery ticket donates $50K

The south King County Fred Meyer that sold the winning $754.6 million winning Powerball ticket donated the money it received to a nearby food bank on Thursday.

The Kroger store, located at 801 Auburn Way North in Auburn, was presented a $50,000 check for selling the winning ticket on Feb. 5. The winning numbers — 5, 11, 22, 23, 69, Powerball 07 — were announced Monday night. No winner has come forward.

Fred Meyer announced it would donate the money it received to the Auburn Food Bank.

"Your heart is overflowing," said Debbie Christian of the Auburn Food Bank. "The blessing that this is going to be to our budget as well as the families that we can turn around and help with it. Our prices all go up and the shelves are all bare. Those are the same problems that we face."

“It’s always good to give back and today everyone wins," Fred Meyer President Todd Kammeyer added via statement. “In addition to this donation, Fred Meyer is giving $10,000 to the store for our associates to celebrate.”
