President Trump expects US to claim all remaining ISIS territory, including caliphate
President Trump claimed this morning that the "United States military, our coalition partners and the Syrian democratic forces have liberated virtually all of the territory previously held by ISIS in Syria and Iraq. It should be formally announced sometime, probably next week that we will have 100 percent of the 'caliphate'."
These comments come after Dan Coats, Director of National Security, stated that "while ISIS is approaching territorial defeat in Iraq and Syria, the group has returned to it's gorilla warfare roots while continuing to plot attacks and direct it's supporters worldwide."
Colin Clarke, Dr. of International Security Policy with the Soufan Center, joined KOMO's Tom Glasgow with his expert insight into ISIS' presence in Syria and Iraq and what this means for the group's future.
