ORLAND, Maine (WGME) — Fire marshals say a man's body was found late Monday night in the rubble of a house that burned to the ground in Maine.

Officials say 40-year-old Sam Crawford initially escaped the fire but he went back into the burning house to find his dog.

Investigators found his body in the basement of the house around 11:30 p.m. The dog's body was not located.

Two other adults and two children escaped the fire uninjured.

Investigators said the fire started in the attached garage of the house shortly after a space heater was turned on.
