MIDDLETON, Idaho (KBOI) — A school district is investigating several teachers after photos circulated of them dressed as Mexicans and President Trump's proposed border wall.

The photos were initially posted on the school's Facebook page, but have since been removed.

Middleton School District Superintendent Dr. Josh Middleton responded to the incident, saying he is "deeply troubled by the decision," and that the costumes "are clearly insensitive and inappropriate."

The superintendent said he was contacted by concerned parents who saw the images. Local station CBS 2 News also received several emails and phone calls from upset residents.

"Unfortunately, this is the environment that children are going to school in," one person wrote. "As a mother to a minority child, I would be mortified if this were my child's teacher. They should be fired."
