Woman hit by car, seriously injured on Hwy. 99 in Edmonds
EDMONDS, Wash. - A young woman was struck by a car and seriously injured Thursday morning along Highway 99 in Edmonds, police said.
Officers and medics responded to the scene, in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 at 238th Street SW, at about 7:10 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.
A woman in her 20s was found at the scene with severe injuries to her lower legs and unknown internal injuries. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she is reported to be in serious but stable condition.
A preliminary investigation found that the woman was walking across the middle of the highway, wearing dark clothing, when she was struck.
The driver of the car stopped after the accident. The driver was not impaired, police said.
The northbound lanes of Highway 99 were closed at the scene during the investigation of the accident but have since reopened.
