Woman drowns after apparently falling into Maple Valley lake

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. -- A 69-year-old woman drowned Monday evening in Maple Valley's Pipe Lake, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

The woman left her home and went out for a walk but after an hour passed and she didn't return, her husband went looking for her. Eventually he and a friend spotter her in the lake and called 911, says Sgt. Ryan Abbott.

Medics arrived and pulled her unconscious from the water. They attempted CPR but was later pronounced dead.

Investigators think the woman tripped, lost her footing and fell into the water, Abbott said.
