Family members of two young men found shot to death on a Tacoma street Sunday want to know why they were killed.

Evitan DeBiaso, 19, and Deonte Mitchner, 21, were killed in the McKinley neighborhood just before 5pm Sunday.

“This has changed a lot of lives,” Evitan’s father Michael DeBiaso said. “My son is going to be missed by his whole family.”

Deonte was a father of two.

“It’s horrible,” his sister Jasmine Johnson said. “I can’t sleep at night. I can’t eat.”

Now these families want to know what lead up to that shooting.

They are hearing rumors on the street, as they wait for updates from Tacoma Police. They say they haven’t heard much from detectives.

“I’m calling out for somebody to tell me what happened to my son,” Michael DeBiaso said. “I don’t know too many details. I hear a lot of different stories. I just want to get to the bottom of it.”

Tacoma Police tell KOMO they are actively investigating and tracking down leads, but at this point they haven’t made any arrests. They would not comment further on the case.

Evitan’s mother, Clysta Cole, reached out to KOMO News Wednesday night, saying she has been in close contact with detectives throughout the investigation. While she would not elaborate on the content of the investigation, she says she has been updated on the case.

The families held a vigil for Deonte and Evitan Tuesday.
