EVERETT, Wash. - A water main break flooded a street Thursday morning in Everett, utility officials said.

Emergency crews responded after the 6-inch water main broke at around 6:30 a.m. in the 9500 block of 31st Avenue SE, spewing out water and flooding an area east of 31st Avenue, said Kathleen Baxter of Everett Public Works.

Crews stopped the leak, which shut off water service to two homes while repairs were made. The leak was patched and full service was restored by 9 a.m.

Baxter said the asbestos-concrete water main was installed in 1960.
