Man fatally shot at Tacoma apartment complex Tuesday night

Police are investigating after a 26-year-old man was shot and killed in Tacoma late Tuesday night.

According to the Tacoma Police Department (TPD), officers were dispatched to Aero Apartments just before 11 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a disturbance and a “possible shooting.” The complex is located on the 9300 block of South Ash Street in south Tacoma, which is just north of Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

As officers were attempting to find the person who reported the disturbance to 911, they learned a 26-year-old man was taken to an area hospital in a private vehicle. The TPD said the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.A hospital spokesperson confirmed the man who died had been shot.

Photos and video from the scene show crime scene tape blocking off one of the outside stairwells at the complex.

No information about a possible suspect or any additional information about the victim has been released at this time.It is currently unknown if the man lived at the apartment complex.

TPD detectives and crime scene technicians responded to the apartment complex to search for evidence.

The man’s death is being investigated as a homicide. Data from the city of Tacoma shows the man’s death is the 30th homicide investigation in the city so far this year.
