Suspected DUI wrong-way crash on West Seattle Bridge leaves 2 hurt
SEATTLE -- Two drivers were injured in a wrong-way head-on crash on the West Seattle Bridge Monday evening and impaired driving is considered a factor in the crash.
It was just after 10 a.m. when a Honda Civic was heading east in the westbound lanes across the bridge toward I-5, according to trooper Rick Johnson. As the car approached the onramp from northbound I-5, it collided head-on with a Toyota Prius. A third car slammed into a side barrier trying to avoid the crash.
Both the driver of the Civic and Prius were taken to Harborview Medical Center and both were listed in serious condition. The driver and two passengers in the third car were not injured.
Investigators said the 28-year-old driver of the Civic will be arrested for investigation of DUI and vehicular assault.
