Suspect shot by police during incident in Kent

KENT, Wash. - A suspect was shot by and officer Thursday afternoon in Kent, police said.

The incident unfolded at around 3 p.m. in the 15200 block of Kent Kangley Road. Police were at the scene because they located a known 33-year-old man, with outstanding felony warrants and were conducting an investigation.

The suspect was located seated in a vehicle and he attempted to flee the scene by using his vehicle to ram police vehicles. This confrontation lead to the suspect being shot by officers two times. Officers then gained control of the scene and initiated life saving efforts to stabilize the man until medics arrived.

The suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

No officers were hurt during the incident.

The officer involved was put on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in any officer involved critical incident.

The Valley Investigative Team has been requested to conduct the investigation as an independent third party.
