Steve Pool updates his cancer treatment, says you are 'most uplifting medicine'
KOMO's much-beloved weathercaster Steve Pool continues to receive treatment for prostate cancer since his diagnosis in September, but wanted to check in with our viewers and give an update on his progress.
"The good news is, the disease was identified early enough for me to have a chance for recovery," Pool said. "The challenge now is to go through the treatment, which I do nearly every day."
He says he has great doctors and technology, "so I'm optimistic."
But most of all, he wanted to make sure you all know how much your support over the past few months has meant to him and his family.
"The most uplifting medicine has come from the amazing response from my friends, and co-workers and the Northwest community," he said.
Pool says he's received hundreds of emails and get well cards, and even well wishes from those at other TV stations in town.
"I've received signed banners -- the Mariners even sent me a blanket and slippers," Pool said. Some have even started social media pages wishing him well.
"All in all, I'm receiving excellent care, but it'll still be a while before I get a clean bill of health," he said. "When that happens, I will let you know. In the meantime, my family and I say 'Thank you.' We will never forget your generosity."
