SEATTLE -- Two people were killed and three others were wounded -- two critically -- in multiple but separate shootings around the Seattle area as Wednesday evening and night turned violent.

Woman killed in Skyway

In Skyway, a woman was killed in a shooting a little before 10:30 p.m.

The 22-year-old woman was driving along Rainier Avenue South when she was struck by gunfire. Her car veered off the road and may have hit several other cars along the roadway.

Police and medics arrived to find her dead from a gun shot wound to her head.

Investigators think she was targeted for some reason, but their investigation continues.

Her name has not been released.

One man was shot in the stomach and may not survive. The two gunmen took off in a car. The third man, who was with the victim, remained at the scene and is talking with detectives.

Investigators say they believe this shooting is gang-related and is not connected to the shooting that occurred outside nearby Mariner High School during last Friday's football game.

Detectives are looking at surveillance video for clues in this incident.

2 shot in Lynnwood

A few miles south in Lynnwood, a young man and and a woman were shot in their vehicle in a drive-by at about 8:30 p.m.

The shooting happened at Olympic View Drive and Blue Ridge.

The woman, 18, is in critical condition with a wound to her neck. The man, in his 20s, was shot in the arm. Investigators think the shooters and the victims knew each other.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Detective Sergeant Doug Teachworth at (425) 670-5616, or Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.TIPS (8477).

Second shooting in Lynnwood

Not too long after the two women were shot, another man suffered a minor wound in a drive-by shooting.

He was looking for his dog near 173rd Place West and 60th Ave. West when he was shot by someone in a car, Lynnwood police say.

He was taken to a local hospital but officers said his wound was minor. Police are still interviewing him to see why he might have been a target.

Investigators do not believe it was related to the shooting on Olympic View Drive. There is no suspect description yet.

Stray bullet in drive-by shooting kills woman in Burien

Earlier Wednesday, a receptionist in a chiropractic office in Burien was killed by a stray bullet.

Deputies and medics responded to the scene at the chiropractic clinic in the 15200 block of 1st Avenue South and tried to save the 51-year-old victim but she later died.

King County deputies said a gun battle broke out across the street on 152nd Street when four men in a car opened fire on a 39-year-old man who had just picked up his 15-year-old son on foot from Highline High School.

Neither the man nor his son here hit but the 51-year-old receptionist sitting behind the front desk of the office was killed.

Updates to that story are being posted here.
