SEATTLE — An adult man was shot in his back in Seattle's High Point neighborhood Wednesday evening.
Seattle police said the shooting occurred in the 6400 block of High Point Drive SW. Police continued to note that the man's girlfriend was hiding in the kitchen of a nearby residence when she called 911.
Multiple community members also called 911 after hearing loud arguing and around six to 10 gunshots being fired and seeing two people flee the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived, according to police.
Police said no suspects have been arrested yet, and officers responded to the scene to further investigate the incident and collect evidence.
The victim was treated by the Seattle Fire Department at the scene and was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he was reported to be in "serious condition," according to Seattle police.
"This is an open and active investigation and is subject to change," wrote Seattle police in response to a KOMO News inquiry. "The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown at this time. Detectives with the gun violence reduction unit have been notified."
