2 men killed in Cal Anderson Park shooting identified

The two men who were killed in a shooting in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood have been identified.

Terrance Wilford, 29, and Raylando Wilford, 33, both died from gunshot wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office Tuesday. Terrance died from a gunshot wound to the chest and Raylando died from multiple gunshot wounds.

On the night of the shooting, Seattle Police Department (SPD) Chief Adrian Diaz acknowledged this tragedy marked the second deadly shooting on Capitol Hill in April. The first was a case of road rage gone wrong.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Cal Anderson Park. Seattle police officers found three men who had been shot when they arrived at the park. One of the men died at the scene and the second man died after being taken to Harborview Medical Center. At last check, the third man, who has not been identified, was in critical condition, according to police.

Police said based on witness information, there may have been a fourth man involved who left the scene. As of Tuesday afternoon, no updates have been provided on the investigation.

There have been 11 homicides in Seattle so far in 2023, according to SPD’s crime dashboard’s latest update. The latest data shows there have been six shootings in Capitol Hill with three of them resulting in fatal injuries.
