EAGLE FALLS, Wash. - The body of a 24-year-old man who went missing at Eagle Falls on Memorial Day has been recovered.

Shari Ireton of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office says the man's body was found in 10 feet of water about 50 yards from the falls on the Skykomish River near Index.

The man was with a friend, and both were trying to reach a rope swing on the other bank. The friend made it across, but the 24-year-old man did not.

The fast-moving water swept the man farther down river when he suddenly went under. A search was launched but came up empty.

Crews from the Snohomish County sheriff's search-and-rescue and dive team continued searching the river in the following days. His body was found Saturday.

The man's name was not immediately released.

Ireton said the man's death was the third drowning incident near waterfalls this year in Snohomish County:

- On April 24, a 30-year-old Bothell woman went into the water at Wallace Falls State Park and her body was recovered the same day.

- On April 12, a 22-year-old Monroe woman went into the water at Cedar Ponds and her body was recovered on April 21.
