Search launched for missing man after boat runs aground on Bainbridge Island

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing person in the water off Bainbridge Island after a grounded sailboat was found with a man's wallet and cell phone still inside.

The search began at around 9 a.m. after a Bainbridge Island police officer reported a 29-foot vessel aground at Skiff Point.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew, a boat crew and the Coast Guard Cutter Wahoo arrived on scene and are currently searching the area, alongside local law enforcement agencies, for a possible person in the water.

Aboard the grounded vessel were a wallet, a cell phone and nautical charts. A dinghy was also located close to the vessel.

The wallet was reportedly identified as belonging to a Mr. Scott Caldwell of Olympia.
