SEATTLE -- The older brother of former University of Washington football star and current NFL player Budda Baker was shot to death in Ballard, officials and family members said.

Police say they were called to the 4900 block of Leary Avenue Northwest about 1:45 a.m. Sunday.

The 29-year-old man was found shot in the street in the 4900 block of 17th Avenue Northwest and died on the way to the hospital, according to police.

A KOMO News staff member was at the scene and was told the shooting took place outside the Shelter Lounge. Witnesses said at least 10 shots were fired.

Although sources would not identify the victim, Baker confirmed the man is his older brother. Baker tweeted the following statement on Sunday:

"On behalf of the Baker Family we want to thank everyone for their generous outpouring of love, support, and prayers during this extremely difficult time at the passing of our dearly beloved son, brother and husband, Robert Baker. We ask that you respect our family's privacy in this difficult time. The Baker Family"

Sunday morning's shooting comes just days after officers discovered a gunshot victim inside a camper at 15th Avenue Northwest at the north end of Ballard Bridge.

It's the second fatal shooting in about a week in Ballard.

Police don't have any suspect description at this time, but nearby businesses told KOMO News they've offered investigators their surveillance video to review.
