KENT, Wash. -- Kent police say officers made an arrest early Wednesday morning in the assault and attempted rape of a Kent barista.

Police, who released security video and photos from the espresso stand, said multiple tips came in and that a 33-year-old Kent man was arrested at his job in the 6800 block of 190th Street in Kent.

Police have not identified the man officers arrested but said he has an extensive criminal history.

Police went to Hottie Shots Espresso, 21237 84th Ave. S., at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday after getting reports of an assault and attempted rape.

The barista, a 30-year-old Bonney Lake resident, said a man walked up to the stand and ordered a drink. As she was making his drink, he climbed through the stand's window and held her at knife point.

Police say he forced her out of the stand and to a dark alley nearby.

He tried to sexually assault her but left when a car pulled up.

The barista was treated for scratches. She was upset but otherwise in good condition, police said.

“We've had a couple of robberies and I've actually been held up myself and that's terrifying in itself, but for the most part if you just give them some money, they go,” said another barista at the stand who asked that her name not be used. “This was a totally different thing. This was much scarier."
