Police: Elderly man kills wife suffering from dementia, turns gun on himself
SPANAWAY, Wash. -- An elderly couple was found shot to death in Spanaway Friday morning, and police are investigating it as a murder-suicide.
Officers were called to the 2200 block of 145th St. East just after 11 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from a family member who went to the home to find the couple had been shot.
Police arrived to find a 75-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman dead from gunshot wounds. Investigators believe woman was in failing health from dementia and was shot by her husband, before he then shot himself.
A gun has been recovered at the scene and no other suspects are being sought, police said.
