ARLINGTON, Wash. -- A pilot suffered minor injuries Monday when his ultralight aircraft took off without him at the Arlington Airport.
Details about the bizarre incident are sketchy, but the plane somehow took off on its own Monday evening at the small municipal airport. The pilot tried to keep the plane on ground, but he was unsuccessful and the aircraft took flight, according to the City of Arlington.
The plane's solo trip was short lived, and it quickly crash landed on the roof of an adjacent airport hangar.
The Arlington Fire Department secured the aircraft until the NTSB and FAA gave them the okay to remove it. The ultralight is now back on the ground.
The hangar suffered "little to no damage" and the pilot was treated on the scene for minor injuries, according to the city.
