TACOMA, Wash. -- The twin Nigerian dwarf goats born two weeks ago at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium now have names.

The sisters are Sugar and Spice.

The public picked the names from three sets of choices that zookeepers submitted. Other choices included Opal and Agnes and Coral and Elsie.

The 5-pound sister who is white with tri-colored patches is Sugar. Her brown-and-tan twin is Spice.

The kids, also called doelings, are among 17 Nigerian dwarf goats in the Kids' Zone area of the zoo.

The little animals are miniature dairy goats of West African origin. The species originally was imported to the United States in the 1930s.

They grow only to about 24 inches high and can weigh upwards of 75 pounds.

A visit to Kids' Zone is free with admission to Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.
