Person killed in fire at Tacoma apartment building

TACOMA, Wash. -- One person was killed during a fire at a Tacoma apartment building early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out in the Spanish Hills Apartments on S. Whitman Street just after 1 a.m., Tacoma Fire officials said.

Firefighters found the body during a search of the apartment. No one else was hurt.

Investiagators say it appears something placed too close to a wall heater is to blame for the fire.
