Police: Man hit, killed after reportedly stealing package from UPS truck in SODO

SEATTLE, Wash. — A man has died after being struck by a vehicle in Seattle's SODO neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.

Seattle police and firefighters responded to the scene in the 1700 block of 1st Ave. South just before 4 p.m.

According to police, the man reportedly stole a package from a parked UPS truck and was hit by the mirror of a passing Ford truck as he stepped out of the UPS truck.

Police confirmed the 45-year-old man who was hit died at the scene. They also confirmed that the driver of the Ford was not impaired.
