TACOMA, Wash. - A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and critically injured Tuesday morning at a Tacoma intersection, police said.
Officers and medics responded to the scene, at South 74th Street and South Tacoma Way, at about 6:30 a.m.
The pedestrian, a 44-year-old man, was found with life-threatening injuries. He was rushed to the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, man in his mid-40s, also was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
A preliminary investigation found that the pedestrian was crossing the street when he was hit by the vehicle, which had a green light.
The intersection was closed after the accident for the cleanup and investigation.
