TACOMA, Wash. -- No one was injured in a Tuesday night apartment fire in Tacoma, but residents in all 12 units were displaced.

Firefighters were called to the Lakeside Landing Apartments at about 6:15 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from a ground level corner apartment, according to Joe Meinecke with the Tacoma Fire Department.

The fire grew quickly and soon traveled up to the building's third floor and roof.

A female resident was briefly trapped in her top floor apartment, but fire crews broke a window and pulled her out to safety.

Crews eventually put down the fire, but three units were heavily damaged, Meinecke said. All 12 units were evacuated and resident won't be allowed to return Tuesday night.

Investigators haven't yet determined what caused the fire.
