Missing man found dead of gunshot wound in Mason County forest

BELFAIR, Wash. - Investigators are asking for the public's help in solving the case of a missing man who was later found dead from a gunshot wound in a forested area of Mason County.

The victim, identified as Noe Alvarado Guarchaj, 43, of Belfair, was reported missing on Sept. 6 after not having contact with his church, friends or family since Sept. 2.

Guarchaj's vehicle was later found in the Tahuya Forest near Belfair, and a search then found his body in the adjacent woods, said the Mason County Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy determined that Guarchaj had died from a gunshot wound.

Sheriff's investigators and the victim's family are now seeking any information related to his disappearance and death.
