'Driver' statue nearly taken out by minivan at Puyallup post office
PUYALLUP, Wash. - A minivan crashed into the main U.S. post office in downtown Puyallup on Monday morning, toppling over a railing and a small statue depicting a driver making a turn but causing no injuries.
Police and medics responded to the scene at around 9:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a vehicle slamming into the post office.
A gray minivan was found wedged between the statue and a sidewalk ramp leading to the post office's front entrance.
"Luckily there are no injuries to any persons," the Puyallup police tweeted. "We have to admit the statue next to this collision is priceless. It brought new meaning to drop off your mail............"
The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation.
Heavy traffic is reported in the area in the crash aftermath.
