Metro's Convention Place Station closing Saturday for good
SEATTLE -- Big changes are coming this weekend if you take the bus in Downtown Seattle.
The Convention Place station is closing on Saturday, sending seven bus routes up to a newly-built temporary ramp between Ninth Avenue and the transit tunnel. The routes include 41, 74, 101, 102, 150, 255 and Sound Transit Express 550.
The change will affect 817 buses and affect approximately 5,400 riders who go through those stations.
"Buses are going to take a little bit longer to get to and from the tunnel and especially during the first weeks of this change when we and other drivers are getting accustomed to the changes and traffic patterns are changing a little bit during busy days it could be even more of a delay," says Bill Bryant with King County Metro.
The change will hold through March 23, 2019 as part of the Washington State Convention Center expansion and the transition of the Downtown Transit Tunnel to light rail-only use.
