Man's body recovered from Skykomish River

GOLD BAR, Wash. - Crews in Snohomish County recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Skykomish River Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to 911 calls from witnesses around 2:00 p.m. reporting a man acting erratically and trespassing in the area, near the Big Eddy public water access site.

The deputies determined the man wasn't a threat and left.

Around 4:30 p.m. witnesses again called 911 reporting they saw a man jump into the water and drift downstream in distress.

Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire Districts 26 and 7, along with Snohomish County deputies the sheriff's helicopter searched the water.

The body was discovered around 5:30 p.m. just downstream from Big Eddy.

Investigators believe the man is 30's and was a transient from the Gold Bar/Sultan area.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's office will determine the man's identity and cause and manner of death.
