Man found dead inside Lake Stevens home after overnight standoff

LAKE STEVENS, Wash. - An overnight standoff in Lake Stevens ended in a suspect's death.

The stand-off started at 8:43 p.m. A 39-year-old man was reportedly pointing a gun to his head, and police responded to the 600 block of 99th Avenue Southeast, the Lake Stevens Police Department said.

An adult woman was inside but fled.

There was also a girl inside, who left the house later.

Some nearby homes were evacuated due to potential danger, Bob Summers, a Police Department spokesman, said.

After failing to make contact with a man inside the home, SWAT officers entered the house and found him dead.

The man's death is under investigation. H

Lake Stevens police, Everett police and a SWAT team with Snohomish County Sheriff's responded to the standoff.
