BURIEN, Wash. -- A driver is fighting for his life at a Seattle hospital after he crashed his car into a tree in Burien Wednesday evening.

The man was driving along S. 112th Street around 8:30 p.m. when he collided with the tree in the 800 block, according to Sgt. Ryan Abbott with the King County Sheriff's Office.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with what Abbott described as life-threatening injuries. He was the only one in the car.

Police are still investigating what led up to the crash but said it appears impairment and speed were factors.
