WENATCHEE, Wash. - Fire officials say a sporting goods store is a total loss after flames ripped through the building.
The fire broke out at Liquidation Sports, a two-story building in the 1500 block of Horselake Road, around 10:40 a.m., Rick Isaacson with the Chelan County Fire District said.
Crews arrived to find smoke seeping from the lower level. The fast-moving fire engulfed the building in flames and collapsed the roof, Isaacson said.
More than 50 firefighters responded.
Several homes and a nearby Walmart was evacuated as precaution. Power to the area was shut off.
The Chelan County Public Utility Distrct says a fiber line was damaged by the fire. Crews are assessing the damage and plan to start repairs Monday.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters say the blaze is under control but advise lots of water is still being applied.
Residents should avoid the area if possible.
Fire officials are investigating but say it will be a few days before the fire's cause can be determined.
