Lacey Police responded to a welfare check request Thursday at 2:30 P.M. in a vehicle in the McDonald's parking lot in the 600 block of Sleater Kinney Road SE. They found a male and female in the car who appeared to be under the influence of some substance.

The couple took off in the vehicle at a high rate of speed.

When the suspects attempted to enter I-5 southbound in a northbound exit their car crashed into another motorist exiting I-5. After the collision, both suspects ran off on foot.

The two suspects attempted to carjack a person at the Candlewood Suites in the 4500 block of 3rd Ave SE. The victim physically fought back and one suspect fired one shot off from a pistol, not hitting or injuring anyone.

The suspects left and attempted another carjacking in the parking lot of a medical building in the 300 block of 3rd Ave SE. They were unsuccessful and fled on foot.

With assistance from the Thurston County Sherriff's Office, Washington State Patrol and Olympia Police Department, a search for the suspects ensued. While the search was ongoing, Saint Martin's University was on modified lock down.

A K-9 team was brought out for a ground search and WSP helped with an air search. But the search efforts were unsuccessful and the suspects were not located.

The Lacey Police Department has identified the suspects and says they are should be considered armed and dangerous. They are not releasing the identities at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Lacey Police Department at 360-459-4333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
