ENUMCLAW, Wash. - A King County medic unit was hit by a falling tree near Enumclaw as it was heading down the road toward the scene of an earlier accident.

A State Patrol spokesperson said the medic unit was heading north on Highway 169 near Enumclaw at about 11 p.m. Thursday when a tree toppled over and slammed into the vehicle's windshield just as it was going past.

No one inside the medic unit was injured.

The medic crew had been responding to an earlier crash in Black Diamond, but never made it there after their vehicle was hit by the tree.

Other medic units were able to reach the earlier crash, in which a victim was trapped inside a car and had to be extricated.
