OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington Gov. Jay Inslee tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday and is experiencing mild symptoms, according to his office.
According to a press release, Inslee was exposed to someone who tested positive "prior to receiving his updated booster Wednesday evening. He tested positive this morning."
Inslee's office said he's experiencing "very mild symptoms including a mild cough." He will continue working and taking meetings virtually, the press release said.
"COVID remains with us and vaccination remains as important as ever," the 72-year-old Democratic governor said in a statement. "We are so appreciative that we have this vaccine that has the ability to keep you out of the hospital or worse. I'm glad I received it and encourage others to take advantage."
This is at least the third time Inslee has tested positive. He did so in May 2022 and February 2023.
