SEATTLE — A 25-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot in the leg in north Seattle late Monday night, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).
Officers responded near the14300 block of Linden Avenue North in the Bitter Lake neighborhood a little after 10:30 p.m.
Police said when officers arrived, they discovered the man had a gunshot wound in his leg. Police described the wound as a "through and through injury," meaning the bullet went all the way through the leg, leaving both entry and exit wounds.
A neighbor applied a tourniquet in an attempt to stop the victim's bleeding.
According to police, the victim had been followed home by a black Jeep into his apartment complex. The occupants of the Jeep then confronted the man and accused him of hitting their vehicle.
A suspect pulled out a handgun and "shot the victim in the lower right leg," police said.
The suspects fled the area and police have not been able to locate them, Detective Eric Muñoz with the SPD told KOMO News in an email.
Muñoz said police were actively searching for the shooter overnight but have not given an update. Officers found a shell casing at the scene.
