SWAT team standoff closes roads in Lake Forest Park; 1 arrested so far
LAKE FOREST PARK, Wash. - A suspect was taken into custody as a SWAT team surrounded a residence Thursday in Lake Forest Park, police said.
The incident unfolded after investigators with the Pierce County Sheriff's Office and a North Sound Metro SWAT team arrived at a residence in Lake Forest Park armed with a search warrant.
The occupants of the residence, near the 3600 block of NE 156th Street, failed to surrender to officers.
So far, one person has been taken into custody, said Detective Tony Matthews of the Lake Forest Police Department. The U.S. Marshals Service is enroute to pick up the suspect.
The scene is still active, with multiple law enforcement units responding and several roads in the area blocked by police.
Motorists are warned to stay away from the Sheraton Heights area, but Matthews said there is no danger to the community at this time.
