The environmental group Greenpeace has ranked Gov. Jay Inslee as the presidential candidate with the best plan for addressing climate change.
The ranking was announced in a report entitled "Where's Your 2020 Candidate on Climate Change?" Inslee was not only ranked the No. 1 candidate for the climate, but he also was the only one to receive an "A-" grade. The next-best candidate, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, earned a "B+" grade, according to Greenpeace.
The Greenpeace ranking comes just days after "New Green Deal" sponsor U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised Inslee's climate plan as "the most serious (and) comprehensive one to address our crisis."
Inslee has pinned his presidential hopes on a strong environmental platform that advocates clean energy and phasing out fossil fuels.
In its ranking, Greenpeace said Inslee "has laid out the most detailed plan of any candidate so far that’s right in line with a Green New Deal, and championed bold action as governor of Washington state."
Inslee recently announced his “100% Clean Energy for America” and "Evergreen Economy" plans, and has been talking it up in meetings with voters in several states.
It's not clear how much good the endorsements by Greenpeace and Ocasio-Cortez will do for Inslee's overall popularity. The latest polls show he has less than 1 percent support among likely Democratic voters - although his campaign says he has raised money from enough donors to qualify for the first Democratic presidential debate.
Here are the Greenpeace rankings and grades for all Democratic candidates:
