The Seattle Police Department is searching for a group of juveniles, including a 7-year-old who police said are wanted for a robbery in the Green Lake neighborhood.

According to officers, five 15-year-old girls were riding a King County Metro Bus on Monday when a group of 10 juveniles between the ages of seven and 17 boarded the bus and started making "biased comments about the girl's race and privilege."

Feeling intimidated, police said the victims decided to get off the bus at North 82nd Street, but the suspects followed them, demanding money and "using foul language."

That's when the situation escalated.

Police said at one point, a suspect, believed to be around 7 years old, brandished a hatchet while another suspect, who was carrying a baby, stole cash from one of the girls' clutches.

The victims then fled to a nearby ice cream shop near Wallingford Ave North and East Green Lake Dr. North and called the police.

Robbery units have been assigned to the case, which is being investigated as first-degree robbery due to the involvement of the hatchet.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking information to help identify the suspects.
