COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho (KBOI) — A giant die has washed ashore on Lake Coeur d'Alene baffling residents about its origin.
Coeur d'Alene resident Mark Sales told KBOI 2News that he and his father spotted the floating object on Saturday near the boardwalk.
"We had no idea where it originated," he said.
Sales says he's seen social media chatter that the steel object has been apparently floating and making its way around the lake for years and especially moves around during high water years. He believes the cube is about four and a half feet wide on each side.
The Coeur d'Alene Press reported this week that the object is an old steel storage tank that washed up on shore on Driftwood Bay in 2008. And, at some point, someone got a little artistic to make the tank resemble a massive sized die.
City officials have removed the storage tank/die from the lake.
