DES MOINES, Wash. -- Three adults got out of a burning home in Des Moines early Friday morning and only suffered minor smoke inhalation.

But their three pet cats were not so lucky - all three perished in the blaze.

Their home, which caught fire at about 2:45 a.m. Friday in the 24000 block of 11th Pl. S., sustained serious damage from the flames.

Fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused the fire.

The three occupants went to the hospital for treatment. Firefighters from South King Fire and Rescue have since extinguished the fire.
