LANGLEY, Wash. - A home that was just about to go up for sale was destroyed by fire early Monday in the town of Langley, on South Whidbey Island.
Firefighters responded to the scene, on Hillis Drive, at about 4 a.m. after a newspaper delivery person spotted smoke and flames coming from the home and called 911.
Flames were so large they were spotted by a web camera at SkunkBayWeather.com, across the water in Hansville:
No one was inside the house at the time, and no one was injured, said Jon Gabelein of South Whidbey Fire & Rescue.
The home was a total loss, but crews were able to keep the flames from spreading to other nearby homes.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials were unable to say if suspicious activity was involved or not.
