SEATTLE - A fire at a recreational marijuana shop sent smoke billowing through Seattle's Lake City neighborhood early Tuesday morning.
Crews responded to the scene, Greenside Recreational at 9804 Lake City Way NE, at 1:18 a.m. after receiving a 911 call from the owner of the pot shop, who said he could see smoke and flames spewing from the basement.
Complicating matters for firefighters, the building is highly secure, which made it a challenge to gain access to the blaze. Once they did, the fire was brought under control and doused.
No one was injured in the fire.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, but the shop's owner tells KOMO News he thinks it was sparked by an electrical malfunction.
About 10 employees work at the shop. There was no immediate word on when it would reopen for business.
Damage was estimated at $70,000.
