KENT, Wash. - A 300-pound pig snarled traffic on Interstate 5 in the Kent area Tuesday after it got loose and blocked the HOV lane, the Washington State Patrol reports.

The drama unfolded near the South 200th Street interchange at around 11:30 a.m. after a truck broke down and came to a stop along the shoulder of the freeway, said Trooper Chase Van Cleave.

The pig was inside the truck and somehow managed to escape.

The HOV lane was blocked and traffic quickly backed up in both directions as passing motorists gawked at the hefty porker on the lam.

State troopers and an animal control crew responded to the scene and tried to wrangle the pig into custody.

The animal was later removed.
