Fire, explosion knocks out power to 4,000 in West Seattle

SEATTLE -- Seattle City Light says about 4,000 customers were without power in West Seattle at Saturday afternoon after a fire and explosion in a substation.

By 3 p.m. all but 136 customers had their power back.

City Light said the fire and explosion occurred in an underground section of the Delridge substation.

The outage left traffic lights dark. And the Seattle Fire Department said some people were trapped in elevator.
