Elderly woman pulled from burning SUV after crash into tree
EVERETT, Wash. -- An 83-year-old woman survived a fiery crash into a tree in Everett after being pulled from her flaming car by a witness, fire officials said.
It was just after 2 p.m. when the woman was going at a high rate of speed approaching the intersection of 19th Ave SE and 110th St. SE when she lost control and smashed into a tree and electrical power box, setting the car aflame.
A passerby saw the crash and managed to pull the woman from her car. Medics arrived and took the woman to Providence Medical Center for treatment of broken bones and possible internal injures.
There is no word yet what led up to the crash.
The impact knocked out nearby traffic signals; Snohomish PUD crews were on the way to make sure the electoral box was de-energized.
